Do you have an old ceiling fan that you'd like to replace with a new one? The process is actually easier than you would think and is something that you can do yourself without the help of a contractor. GNH can help you every step of the way!
Before you start, you will want to make sure that the power connected to the fan is OFF by turning off the switch or the breaker. To remove your old ceiling fan, first unscrew and remove the screws so that you can access the 3-4 wires going to the fan. Remove all the wire nuts to separate them. It's also always a good idea to make sure none of the wires are touching each other just to be on the safe side. You will now be able to lift out your old fan.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to assemble your new fan and new wand. After feeding the wires through the wand, make sure the wand is securely fastened to the new fan to prevent accidents.
Once your new fan is all assembled, seat the wand into the niche where the old fan was seated. If your new wires are a bit too long, cut them down to about a hand's length. You always want to start with the grounding/safety wire, which is normally the green colored wire. After twisting the tips of the wires together and securely attaching the wire nuts, tuck the wires into the box and screw the cap back on both sides. You can now enjoy your new fan!
